How many shareholders does Ahtna have?
Ahtna originally enrolled 1,074 shareholders in 1971 under ANCSA. Following the 2008 Class L descendant stock approval, shareholder enrollment has grown to over 2,170 shareholders, nearly half of whom hold Class L descendant stock.
Can Ahtna shares be bought or sold?
No. As an Alaska Native Regional Corporation, Ahtna stock is not publicly traded and cannot be sold. Stock can only be transferred through gifting, inheritance, or official Class L descendant enrollment.
How do I apply for the Ahtna Graduate Gift?
Shareholders who graduate from high school, trade programs, or college receive a congratulatory cash gift by submitting an application, W-9, and diploma copy within 1 year of graduation to graduate@ahtna.net.
What is Ahtna’s dual corporate mandate under ANCSA?
Unlike standard commercial corporations, Ahtna operates with a dual mandate: providing financial profitability through commercial operations AND maintaining shareholder cultural heritage, land stewardship, and community well-being.
