In Honor of Walter U’eldahwdi’aasen Charley

Born February 24, 1908 in Wood Camp near Copper Center, Walter Charley (Tsisyu / Paint Clan) was a beloved Ahtna leader and lifelong advocate for education and ANILCA Title 8 subsistence rights. His daughter, Christine Craig, was the first female President of Ahtna, Incorporated. In tribute to his legacy, Ahtna established the Walter Charley Memorial Scholarship (WCMS).
